Sustainable 3D Printing
Review material use, printing waste and packaging with evidence specific to the product.
Define the outcome to improve
Choose a measurable project goal, such as reducing failed prints or reviewing packaging components. Record the current process so a proposed change can be compared with a baseline. A green color or natural-looking box is not evidence of environmental performance.
Record the whole printing job
Keep a simple record of accepted parts, failed parts, supports and discarded samples for the same job. When reviewing a profile or design, compare the complete job rather than only the finished part. Do not claim a reduction before measuring it.
Review each packaging component
Identify the spool, protective bag, label, retail box and shipping carton. Ask which materials and separation steps apply to the proposed pack, then check local collection requirements. A claim about one component should not be extended to the whole shipment.
Keep claims tied to documents
Request evidence for the specific grade, packaging component and market before using recycling, compostability or recycled-content claims. Keep the document scope and version with approved wording. If evidence is unavailable, describe the option being reviewed without presenting it as a verified benefit.
